Thank you to everyone for the wonderful nominations! We now have our tagset. Sign ups should open in less than 24 hours, and there will be an info post about sign ups later. For now, though: betas! This is the beta post.

Basically, ideally everyone writing something will have it beta'd before posting, but it can be hard for some folks to find a beta when assignments need to be secret. To get around this, we will have two systems in place this round.

• People who are willing to beta if asked should fill out the form below and post it in a comment on this entry. You don't have to be logged in! You will need to provide some kind of contact infomation.
• People who are on the server will be able to use a hippo system. You can read more about hippos on Fanlore, but basically they're people who act as intermediaries to solicit betas and other information while preserving creator anonymity.

You do not have to be signed up to beta or hippo! In fact, it's a great way to contribute to the event if you aren't signed up.

If you're a participant with a regular beta who isn't your recip, you can use them, of course!

If you're a participant looking for a beta, please view the options below and the beta thread on the server before using the hippoing service.

If you post a comment to be a beta and later change your mind, feel free to remove it. (Or, if you had to post the comment anonymously, contact me via Discord or email and ask that it be deleted for you.)

Form instructions:

• What fandoms? We have crossovers this round, so if you're familiar with fandoms in the tagset besides DoS please list them!

What fandoms?
I'm familiar enough with Dreaming of Sunshine/Naruto, Harry Potter (original novels), Star Wars (original and prequel trilogies) and Dresden Files (novels, definitely not the TV series) to comment on canon details. For generic Marvel/DC, A Song of Ice and Fire, Final Fantasy VII, Fullmetal Alchemist, My Hero Academia, Percy Jackson and Stargate, I know enough to read and not get lost.

What kind of betaing?
Interested in betaing fanfiction. My background is technical writing so I'm good with spelling, grammar and otherwise making meaning as clear as possible in American English. If you rely on deliberate obfuscation in your work, you'll probably get frustrated with my advice.

Anything you won't beta? Rape/non-con and underage sex (below 18) are hard nos, I won't even read the work. I'll beta works with consensual sex scenes with adults but probably will barely even skim those parts.

Expected turnaround time? Expect 48 hour turnaround for up to around 5000 words. Anything longer than that or if there are other people in my queue, I'll shoot you an estimate within 48 hours.

Of the exchange fandoms, in addition to Dreaming of Sunshine and Naruto, I'm very familiar with these: Animorphs, Avatar, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Stargate.

I'm less familiar with but willing to read these: DCU, Dresden Files, Final Fantasy VII, My Hero Academia, Marvel Cinematic Universe, Supernatural.

What kind of betaing?

My strength is spelling and grammar. I'm pretty good at working with authors on phrasing issues. I'm not so good at anything involving Japanese language/culture issues, though I would try to apply my general fandom osmosis.

Anything you won't beta?

I'm not the right audience for sex scenes of any kind and won't beta them.

Expected availability and turnaround time?

I'll do my best to get back to you as fast as I can! I would expect to get works under 5k commented in under 24 hours, but if there's any kind of delay I'll let you know when I can get to it.
