This community is most often used for the Dreaming of Sunshine exchange, but other people can post here — posting rules are on the comm profile. You can also talk to us on the Heliocentrism discord server.

I've finally nailed down our dates! More links forthcoming, and please excuse the mess as I swap out old posts and maybe revamp our comm theme in the coming week. Questions/comments can be put on this post or emailed to me at dreamingofexchange@gmail.com and you should also consider joining our Discord although per usual it is not necessary for the exchange.

DREAMING OF SUNSHINE EXCHANGE 2020 C (WINTER ROUND) SCHEDULE


  • Nominations: November 30th-December 9th
  • Sign ups: December 10th-December 19th (11:59 PM EST)
  • Assignment out: by December 21st if not sooner
  • Default deadline: January 29th (11:59 PM EST)
  • Works due: February 5th (11:59 EST)
  • Work reveals: February 12th
  • Author reveals: February 19th


Also, if you defaulted after the default deadline in the 2020A round, you will need to post a make up gift before nominations open if you want to participate in this round! That means you should have your make up work in by or on November 29th. Your make up gift can be for any previous exchange round, but should be at least 500 words/a finished piece of art on unlined paper even if you're filling a request from the flash round (2020 B).

[tumblr.com profile] tricksterkatartthings is going to run a month-long prompt-based art challenge this summer. Every day will have a different prompt, and hopefully we'll all make a lot of stuff! There will be a prompt calendar like this one.

She says:

the challenge is purely to generate more fanart for the fandom, and as a personal challenge. there are no requirements of where you have to post, or having to participate the entire time, all i ask is that you don't do prompts early. there will be an official prompt a day calendar once the month is picked out.
edits are fine! people who decide they'd rather write are fine! if you want to sing, dance, or put on a production, that's more than fine! like i said, the whole point is to generate more content for the fandom, and i'm just focusing on art.

Making sure your AO3 fic is in the Heliocentrism Collection

For those of you who don't know, because AO3 has not canonized the Dreaming of Sunshine fandom tag, we try to keep all Dreaming of Sunshine fic in the Heliocentrism Community on AO3. Now that the exchange is over, I've gone through all 96 fics and invited the ones not already in Heliocentrism to the collection. Some of you have your account set to allow this automatically, but most of you will need to accept the invite. Below, there are instructions for how to accept the invitation and get your work into the collection because I've had multiple people ask me before and it seems like a good idea to have instructions down somewhere I can link to!

A gift exchange is a kind of fanwork challenge where everyone gifts and receives one fanwork. Typically they're limited to just fanfiction and fanart, but if you have another medium in mind, I'd love to hear about it on the interest survey.

If you don't know much about exchanges, you may want to check out the fanlore article Gift Exchange or take a look at the schedule and rules for the 2019 BSD Spring Fling, which is a small fandom exchange that our exchange would probably look a lot like.

  • Participants will probably match on a character or relationship and a fanwork medium, like BSD Spring Fling.
  • We will need pinch hitters and betas.
  • I would like to encourage treating.
